African Artist- Esther Mahlangu

As part of diversity day, year 5 studied the artist Esther Mahlangu. They were most fascinated by the fact that she had painted on a BMW and couldn’t wait to have a go at recreating her work. The children began with using a black pen to outline the patterns they wanted to use and shapes they wanted to include. They then folded their paper to create the traditional shape of a house. Here are some pieces of finished work.

After sketching and resketching our landscape images, today we have added colour. We attempted to create the foreground, middle ground and back depth and used our previous skills of shade to alter our paint tones. We are very pleased we our results.
