This Year in Ocean and Sky class we have celebrated Yinka Shonibare. He is a British artist living in the United Kingdom. His work explores cultural identity, colonialism and post-colonialism within the contemporary context of globalisation. A hallmark of his art is the brightly coloured Ankara fabric he uses. His art is colourful and bright and we attempted to recreate some patterns in his style.
This afternoon children In Ocean class joined an online lesson by WWF with guest speaker Steve Backshall to learn more information about the Arctic and Antarctic, the animal inhabitants and the water life. The lesson lasted 45 minutes and we thoroughly enjoyed it....
In music lessons, Y5 have been learning about synaesthesia and colour in music. The children have composed pieces of percussive music based on a chosen colour. You can listen to them here...
