2nd March 2025

On Friday 21st February, International Mother Tongue Language Day is usually celebrated, however Perryfields celebrated it on Wednesday 26th February, Perryfields celebrated language day! Mother Tongue is the language that someone is born with, at Perryfields we have over 30 languages. The aim of this day is to raise awareness, cultural diversity and recognise endangered languages. On this day, we came into school in the colours, pattern, cultural and traditional clothing that represents our mother tongue language. Within classrooms, students did a range of activities: researched endangered languages, spoke and taught about their mother tongue language, created posters, draw around their hands and compared languages with other students. It was a fun-filled, colourful day where everybody including the staff learnt something!
