This week we have started thinking about using our number bonds to 10 to help us write addition statements. Before we can work in our books, it is important that we understand the concept of number bonds being 2 numbers which add together to total a given amount.

Using multi-link cubes in towers of 10, we broke them into two pieces. These made our number bonds to ten so we could visually see that two separate amounts can be added together to create 10. We wrote our number sentences on whiteboards ensuring that our digits were correctly formed and that we used the add and equal symbols accurately.

We think we worked well, using our BLP skills of noticing and absorption- we all really enjoyed this task!
