Our mud kitchen has been a hive of creativity this term! The children have been busy “cooking” using natural resources such as pine cones, sea shells and fresh herbs, sparking their imaginations as they created all sorts of wonderful muddy meals.
As they played, the children were strengthening their arms and wrists by lifting and carrying our heavier metal pots and pans—an important part of developing the muscles needed for early writing skills. It’s been fantastic to see them so engaged and purposeful in their play.
The children became deeply absorbed in this activity, showing great concentration and focus as they measured, mixed and explored. Moments like these are so valuable, as they allow children to become fully immersed in their learning while developing creativity, coordination and confidence.
