Last week, we focused our work on the book, ‘Stickman’ by Julia Donaldson. In the Malleable Area we had plasticine! We used the plasticine to join items together to make our very own Stickman! We had resources to choose from including: sticks and leaves we gathered from our outdoor environment, lollipop sticks, googly eyes and string. First, we all gathered to watch Miss Clulow demonstrate the activity as plasticine is a very tricky material to use at first. We now know that in order to use it successfully, it is best to warm it up in our hands first by rolling and squishing it. After gathering all of our resources needed to make a Stickman (we had to use our noticing skills and count out the correct amount of each resource independently), we ensured our plasticine was ready to use to join items together and off we went! We had so much fun when we completed this activity with our teachers that we even continued with the activity independently during Discovery Time! We had to be very patient, resilient and focused.
